In April 1972, three planning meetings were held for the purpose of discussing the organization of a “North American Society for Pediatric Endocrinology”. The name “Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society” was chosen and the first set of temporary officers was selected. In May, 1972, a Constitution and Bylaws were adopted, officers were formally approved, and committee members were announced. The first formal meeting of the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society was held in May, 1973 in conjunction with the PAS meetings in San Francisco. Our meeting this year in Toronto thus represents the 35th meeting of our Society. Special commemorations are being planned, under the able leadership of Del Fisher and our History Committee. Original textbooks, manuscripts, society minutes, videos, and photos will be on display, with special tributes planned for both our earliest members and our most recent fellows.
