The Van Wyk Prize is the Society's most prestigious award in recognition
of outstanding career achievement by a member in the
field of pediatric endocrinology. This award, established
in honor of Judson J. Van Wyk, M.D.,
stands in tribute to an outstanding leader whose has
displayed a career of scientific excellence, leadership
and dedication to the health of children.
Annually a member of the Society is selected by a panel
of senior members appointed by the President to select
a member whose career achievements in
pediatric endocrinology have the respect and admiration
of his/her colleagues comes most close to emulating
that of Dr Van Wyk.
The Pediatric Endocrine Society opens
a call for nominations in September for the Jud Van Wyk
Prize. This prize will be awarded each
year at the PES Annual meeting to a member of the PES
whose career achievements in pediatric endocrinology
have the respect and admiration of
his/her colleagues. The awardee will be chosen by an
Ad Hoc Committee of senior PES members appointed by
the President of PES.
This committee will base
its decision on the awardees aggregate successes in clinical
or basic research, support of fellowship or general pediatric
endocrine education, and overall
involvement in the achievement in the goals of PES.
The Winner of the 2013 Judson J. Van Wyk Prize is Raymond L. Hintz, MD, Stanford, California.
